How to Properly Choose Buffer Rollers
Correct Selection of Buffer Rollers for Belt Conveyors
Roller
The application of rollers in belt conveyors is very important as they support the conveyor belt and bear the weight of the materials. This shows that the role of rollers is crucial. Therefore, the structural performance of rollers becomes even more important.
Special polymer materials for buffer rollers are lightweight, with a specific gravity that is one-seventh that of steel. Rollers made from this material weigh about half that of ordinary roller components, have low rotational inertia, and reduce friction between the roller and the belt, effectively minimizing friction. Reducing the spacing between rollers can decrease the simulated friction coefficient, but the total resistance will increase. Except at unloading points to protect the belt, do not increase roller density in general load-bearing sections. Additionally, the rubber rings of buffer rollers are wear-resistant and have a long service life. The roller body is made of special polymer materials, with performance similar to bronze, providing excellent wear resistance and good self-lubricating properties, which do not damage the belt. There are many types of buffer rollers, such as spring plate type, buffer ring type, and high-strength buffer type, etc. Therefore, it is essential to choose appropriately. When selecting rollers, pay attention to the radial runout, flexibility of the roller, and axial movement. In locations where the material drop exceeds six meters, we should choose buffer rollers, as they can effectively reduce the impact and wear of the belt material, and also prevent the belt from being torn by hard objects.
It is evident that rollers are very important for belt conveyors. Choosing good rollers can ensure normal production and improve efficiency.
